Moisture Control

Excessive moisture can contribute to a wide variety of pest problems, as well as molds, fungi, and wood rot. Z-Best Pest Control provides moisture control as an add-on service to customers within our Cincinnati, Dayton, and Miami Valley, Ohio service area.

How Moisure Control is Done

Moisture barriers are basically thick sheets of plastic that are laid down directly on the ground of a crawl space to help prevent ground moisture affecting wood members such as Sub-Flooring,
Floor Joists, Sill Plates and other wood members that may be affected by moisture. This is a four-step process that is accomplished as follows:

Step 1

We inspect your crawl space with an electronic moisture meter that helps us determine if moisture control is needed.

In general, if the moisture level in the wooden members is at or above 20 percent, moisture control should be implemented.

Step 2

We carefully cut and customizing the plastic to fit in your crawl space around all piers and under all drain pipes, if possible.

Step 3

We carefully instal the barrier in place, taking care to fit it as closely as possible around piers, supports, pipes, and other objects.

Step 4

We install Temp-Vents, if needed, to achive proper cross-ventilation in the crawl space.

Step 5

We install Vent Wells in front of Temp-Vents, if needed, to provide air space for below-grade voids and to help keep water away from the crawl space.
